WHAT IS DERMAPEN?

Dermapen’s advanced skin needling technology uses multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin with an automated vibrating function. When moved across the skin’s surface it stimulates natural collagen reproduction, whilst allowing fine channels to be created in the skin. The channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing for treatment delivery deep into the skin’s fibroblasts to feed the underlying cells in the dermis and basal layer. This increased absorption of active ingredients into the skin creates stimulated repair and faster resurfacing results.

 

WHY IS DERMAPEN SO POPULAR?

Advanced skin needling promotes scarless healing and the deposition of normal woven collagen, similar to fractional laser treatments but without the side effects and downtime. 
 
Unlike traditional skin needling rollers, the Dermapen causes less trauma and has minimal epidermal (skin) damage, therefore reducing pain and discomfort and making it a safer and more effective treatment. The disposable needles eliminate risk of cross contamination, whilst the adjustable needle depths allow for treatment tailored to your individual needs. The Dermapen is so advanced that it is even suitable and safe to use in delicate and hard to reach areas such as around the eyes, lips and on the nose.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED TO DO?

Typically we suggest that patients complete at least 6-8 sessions.  These sessions occur every 4-6 weeks.  Many of our patients do this as a frequent treatment or come back as needed after their initial treatment as your skin feels rejuvenated and new afterwards.

 

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AND HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?

You can just call us and book an appointment.  Dermapen procedures are completed by Franciska (Our Trained Dermapen Technician).  When you arrive at your appointment, you will be taken to a room and a local anesthetic ointment will be applied.  This ointment numbs the skin completely and therefore makes the procedure painless.  The ointment take approximately 45 min to work.

After the skin is numb you will be taken to the procedure room where the ointment will be removed and the procedure will be done. The procedure takes 45-60 minutes.  Special products are applied during and after the procedure for optimal results. 

Once feeling returns, the skin will be very sensitive. The day of (and in some cases following) the procedure you might experience a feeling similar to serious sunburn.  This sensation usually subsides within a day. 2 days after the procedure you may experience some dry flakes or dry skin as the dead skin is flaking, however it is usually not to suck an extent where it is visible.
